Crucial C300 SSD

Ah yes, the era of the Solid State Drive. Today I will be talking about the Crucial C300. If you are not familiar with SSD's check out these articles: here and here.

Here are some specs of the drive series from their website:
  • Read speeds of up to 355MB/s
  • Sata 6Gb/s interface
  • High Speed Synchronous NAND
  • Limited three year warranty

Here are some performance numbers done by AnandTech

This first chart shows the drives read speed. In this case, a random 4kb pattern over an 8gb space was done to try and simulate what a computer will do under normal use of the SSD. The test was done over a three minute time period.

You can see that the C300 provides the fastest read speed out of other comparable drives.

This next chart shows the write speed of the C300 with the same conditions as the read test.

The C300 250GB performs adequate even when compared to the OCZ SDD which is less in size.

These next charts show the C300 is conjuntion with PCMark Vantage. PCmark, according to most websites and enthusiast persons, is the de facto software to benchmark you PC.
